The 4th Annual Canadian Paramedicine Research Day

CALL FOR ABSTRACTS

The Canadian Paramedicine Research Day highlights paramedicine-related research from across the country and internationally, exhibits new knowledge, and stimulates thought and discussion on diverse areas of paramedicine. All contributors to paramedicine research are invited to showcase their work. 

The organizing committee is encouraging researchers to submit abstracts with preliminary or completed paramedicine-related research that has not been published as a manuscript more than 90 days prior to the research day. The review committee will select submitted abstracts for an oral presentation, with the remaining selected for a virtual “poster room”. Awards will be given for top ranking oral presentations and posters. We will also have an “emerging investigator” award for the best abstract by a student. At this time no quality improvement or program evaluation projects are being accepted. Please contact admin@canprd.ca if you are unsure if your project constitutes research.

Notifications of the results of the abstract competition will be sent on or about April 18th 2025.  Oral presentations will be either allotted a 10-minute plenary presentation followed by five minutes for questions, or seven minutes for presentation followed by three minutes for questions depending on ranking. Accepted oral presentations will be submitted as a pre-recorded presentation prior to the research day. Presenters will be required to be available during their presentation time on the day for Q&A. Accepted poster presentations will be required to submit a brief (five minute maximum) pre-recorded presentation to be uploaded along with their virtual poster. 

DEADLINE is 16:00 hours EDT on March 18th, 2025 

Electronic Submission Guidelines:

1. Abstracts must be submitted electronically prior to 16:00 hours EDT on Monday March 18th, 2025.  No exceptions will be made. 
2. Abstracts must be submitted in word format only.
3. Please see below for the abstract submission form.
4. The abstract must include the following sections:
   • Title
   • Introduction: Statement of background and rationale.
   • Objective: Clear statement of primary purpose, research question, or hypothesis.
   • Methods: Statement of methods to succinctly demonstrate how the study was carried out.
   • Results: Summary of results. 
   • Conclusions: Statement of conclusion(s) reached.
5. Word Count Limit is 350 words not including title.
   
6. It must be typed using 12-point Times New Roman, section headings must be underlined, text should be left-justified and abbreviations should be left to a minimum.
